You probably know that SIM cards have different formats. A few years ago, a popular SIM (or mini) card was a popular option. However, in order to reduce the area where it will be placed on the iPhone, over time the format will decrease, and the current day current iPhone models support nano size.

The standard-SIM format was supported by devices such as the first generation iPhone, 3G and 3GS. Popular iPhone 4 and 4S models began to be equipped with micro-SIM slots. And finally, starting with the iPhone 5th generation, Apple finally switched to the smallest version – nano-SIM.

To find out where the SIM card pocket is, find your model below. To open the SIM card pocket, insert the end of the SIM card removal tool or a straightened paper clip into the hole next to the pocket. Push the tip of the tool or paper clip toward the iPhone without using excessive force. If you find it difficult to eject the SIM card pocket, take the device to your operator or Apple Store for help.

After removing the SIM card from the pocket, note the notch in the corner of the new SIM card. Place the new SIM card in your pocket – because of the notch, it can only be inserted one way. Then fully insert the pocket into the device in the same orientation it was removed. The pocket can also be inserted only one way.
