Lots of great vegetables and fruits from the Green City Market are hitting our menu. June is such a great month for everything going local. It’s such a great change after the weather we had last spring and summer. Every week, there are so many new items available, with so many more to come. We have a three course tapas menu that has given us the ability to try a lot of new items from the market this year.
Even though I am allergic to seeded berries, I am always excited to have strawberries show up. Presently we are doing a strawberry tartlet with vanilla bean ice cream and vanilla honey. I’m being told that we will begin to see other berries possibly as soon as next week.
Soft Shell Crabs have been very beautiful this season and we are still featuring them two ways. One as a bisque and the other pan roasted with a salsa of ramps, avocados and serrano chilies. Hopefully they will be around a bit longer.
It’s June and hockey season is going strong here in Chicago. So far this has been a very exciting series with game five tomorrow night. For a change we have a home team to root for!!!
